Description

Nestled beneath beautiful oak trees draped in Spanish moss, this first floor apartment rests on a quieter side of Savannah's Historic District. This 100+ year old home has been tastefully renovated, is enriched with character and has been finished with vibrant yet extremely comfortable furnishings.

After entering via secure electronic lock, you'll step right into your new home away from home! Boasting natural light, impressive tall ceilings, and original architectural details such as the original wood flooring and crown molding, you'll be in awe. The large gathering room is fitted with a cheery yellow sofa, a smart television, and a small bistro table overlooking the treelined street.

Just beyond, you'll also find the bedroom that offers a queen adjustable bed, that can raise and lower - what a luxury! While the bedroom is between the gathering room, and the kitchen, guests can find floor to ceiling room darkening curtains that close off the room to maximize privacy. You'll also find a full-size ensuite bathroom, with a tub shower combination. The generous kitchen stocked with everything needed to prepare home cooked meals can be found at the back of the apartment. You'll have an ample amount of space to prepare and store food, which is perfect for extended stays!

Just off of the bedroom, you'll find a private deck with a bistro set, perfect for an evening glass of wine, or a morning cup of joe. Continuing down the stairs, you'll find the communal courtyard that you'll fall in love with - whether you're gathered around for a home cooked meal, a game of cards, or just hanging out, you'll find plenty of comfortable seating beneath the starry sky or glistening sun.

Just a short walking distance to the heart of downtown, this property is ideal for travelers looking to stay in a tree-lined, quieter residential part of town without sacrificing convenience. Head West and dine at some of the city's best restaurants, like 700 Drayton, Fox & Fig, and Hitch. Guests are about a 15-20 minute walk to the River front, 10-15 to City Market, and a quick 8 minute walk to Forsyth Park.

What is parking like for this home?
This unit has free (non-metered), on-street parking right outside the front door. Availability will depend on time of day and season. Our guests have not reported trouble parking near the home, even on the busiest of weekends.

Had a wonderful experience at this location.
The kitchen was wonderful, we made one meal there and had breakfast cereal everry morning. It was quiet and we slept very well on comfortable bed. It was clean and well equiped. Only thing I could improve on is directions on how to locke the trial and error we found the check mark locked the door. Could put that in the info book. Will probably book direct with Savanah Vacaations for our next trip to Savanah. We come there about twice a year to visit our Granddaughter a SCAD student.

Excellent short term rental. Well equipped. Although no doors between the living space and bedroom, there are good darkening shades to close off the space.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at “The Mermaid” while on our anniversary trip. The location was perfect to walk from river street to home with a pleasant walk or a short Uber. House was clean and had charm.
Way nicer than any hotel.

I felt the southern hospitality the second I walked into the door. Baskets full of snacks, soda pops, ice cream, sunscreen/hand sanitizer and chocolates by the bed. The best was so comfortable and the a/c was kicking keeping us cool from the Savannah summer heat. Will without a doubt be renting out this unit again as it was the perfect home base. Approximately a $8.00 Uber to River street area.

This property was exactly what we were looking for. A smaller space to unwind after a long day of exploring. We had groceries delivered from Kroger and at breakfast in the rental each day. We were glad to see a normal size coffee maker!! Our adventures took us all over and we mainly walked (or ran) and used Lyft (no rental car). This propery is a bit longer of a walk from the historic downtown area, but we never felt in danger when walking back to the rental, even when it was dark out. When walking, be sure to walk down Jones Street - beautiful! We enjoyed sitting on the front porch a few time and watched the activity on the street. We didn't use the back patio set as it was kind of crowded with the other buildings - plus, not much to watch! The house was clean. The bed was soft (a bit too soft for my liking, but that's a preferance thing). My favorite resturant was "Sisters of the New South". A Lyft driver recommended this and it is an authentic, southern resturant. It was delicious!! No guide book told us about this one! We did visit Tybee Island and both agree we were not "beach people" and were glad we didn't stay there. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary in Savannah, and loved our stay! The space was perfect as a place for her and I to rest after a day of exploration and to unwind for a few hours between activities. We were greeted with a world map and book encouraging us to record the insights of our stay as well as where we traveled from, and a wonderful basket with some drinks and snacks after our drive. Parking was an ease and I always had a spot within 15 seconds of the front door!

We really enjoyed this venue. It was clean and had a good bed. The kitchen was well-equipped with extras I would not have expected. We liked the "feel" of the place and the location was great for walking to many other sites.
