Nestled in the heart of downtown and neighbored by both the historic St. John's Cathedral and the Hamilton-Turner House, Lafayette Square was laid out in 1873 and named after Marquis de Lafayette, a French general in the American Revolutionary War. This square gives you the perfect sampling of historic downtown, shaded by tall oak trees and a frequent stop for horse-drawn carriages. The center of the square is home to the Semiquincentenary Fountain, which was a gift from the Colonial Dames of America in celebration of the city’s 250th anniversary. Book a square here.
Jepson Center for the Arts (Telfair Museums)
indoor, downtown, contemporary, museum
Celebrate your wedding with all of the modern amenities but with the view of Savannah’s rich historic past. The Jepson Center is one of three museums in the Telfair family and was designed by internationally-acclaimed architect Moshe Safdie. Built in 2006, this new addition to Telfair Square is perfect for accommodating large parties. The interior features a sweeping, three-story staircase ideally suited for grand entrances, and is also home to the original iconic Bird Girl statue, made famous in the Southern classic Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

The Fountain at Forsyth Park
outdoor, historic savannah, downtown, iconic
One of the most iconic landmarks in our city, the fountain at Forsyth Park is the perfect mix of modern culture and downtown charm. The fountain was added to the park in 1858 and heavily influenced by fountains from Place de la Concorde in Paris and in Cuzco Peru. Flanked by rows of oak trees and several intimate photo-op locations, it’s no wonder this popular wedding venue is booked a year in advance. Ceremonies are typically held on the North end of the fountain, allowing a jaw-dropping backdrop for bride and groom.
