Description

This spacious 5BR estate was designed in 1890 by Hyman Witcover (architect of Savannah’s beautiful gold-domed City Hall) for prominent Savannah native, Simon P. Kehoe. Simon was the son of William Kehoe, beloved citizen and founder of The Kehoe Iron Works. After undergoing an expansive restoration, ‘The Simon’ offers a one-of-a-kind Savannah experience. The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is one of the city’s most well-preserved examples of the Queen Anne Revival architectural style.

THE LOCATION

Located just off of Lafayette Square, The Simon is in the heart of Savannah’s historic district. You’ll find the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, the Hamilton-Turner House and the Andrew Low House mere steps from the front porch. Situated right around the corner is Pinkie Masters, McDonough’s, and Hitch. Walk a few squares to the south and find Forsyth Park with nearby coffee shops and a weekly farmer’s market. Less than a half-mile away, explore the SCAD campus or enjoy a show at the Savannah Theater. Architecture buffs can stop by the Davenport House Museum or Owens-Thomas House, then visit Leopold’s Ice Cream for a sweet treat.

KITCHEN & DINING

You’ll find everything you need to prepare delicious meals in the well-appointed kitchen, complete with stainless steel appliances and high-end cookware. A convenient cocktail and coffee bar includes all the right tools for morning and evening beverages.

Gather for meals at the in-kitchen dining table, the intimate breakfast nook, or outside on the porch.

LIVING ROOM

Lounge in the main living area that accommodates your entire group. The vivid sun-filled parlor overlooks the sprawling front porch and quiet Harris Street. The architectural focal point from the interior is the original tiger oak mantle with ornate columns and intricately carved faces. Dramatic leaded windows in the entry hall cast waves of rainbow prisms into the living area on sunny afternoons.

BED & BATH

Bedrooms are open and airy with high ceilings and tall windows. There are two full baths on the first floor, and two full baths upstairs.

The first-floor primary bedroom is fitted with a plush king bed, en-suite bath with walk-in shower, and access to the very-private side porch.

A lovely staircase leads to the second floor with four guest bedrooms. The second bedroom has the king bed nestled into the beautiful bay window, which is a prime feature of the Queen Anne Revival style. The large bedroom is fitted with the original fireplace and a private dressing nook with full length mirror.

The third bedroom has a king bed, original fireplace, and a beautiful leaded glass window. The cozy fourth bedroom boasts a colorful fireplace and a queen bed.

The roomy second-floor master has a king bed, en-suite bath, and a view of the Cathedral spire. An adjacent bonus den has a queen sleeper sofa and desk.

OUTDOOR AREA & AMENITIES

Stroll the sidewalks under the Spanish moss-draped Live Oaks until you find the right spot to linger. Many guests declare their favorite spot in Savannah is The Simon’s wraparound porch.

Reserved parking is available for three vehicles at the back of the house.

Complimentary Wi-Fi, cable, flat-screen TVs in each bedroom, and a washer/dryer are provided.

Nu-Calgon iWave air purifiers have been installed – this helps to destroy indoor pollutants including allergens, viruses, bacteria, mold, etc.

Some girlfriends and I just recently went on a girls trip to Savannah and stayed at The Simon house right off of Lafayette Square. The house definitely surpassed our expectations. We had five ladies in residence and each of us had our own room with two of us enjoying an en suite bathroom as well. The house was spacious, the porch was excellent for hanging out, and the kitchen was well appointed (I prepared dinner one night for all of us and had all the utensils/cookery I needed to make that meal). The only downside for me was lack of a grill to access. All in all it was a great stay and it was easily accessible to all the things we wanted to do with short walks through the historic district to get to wanted destinations, including our walking ghost tour which started right in Lafayette Square.

Absolutely perfect

We rented the Simon for a last minute girls weekend and it was beyond perfect. Right in the middle of town, walkable to coffee shops and dinners. I literally texted my family while we were there saying "We have to do a family reunion here". Lucky Rentals was SO helpful, allowing us to store our luggage before and after check in/out so we could continue to enjoy our day in Savannah. 10000% recommend.

We stayed at The Simon for our annual Couples Trip and it was a absolutely perfect! There were plenty of sitting areas inside where we could enjoy cocktails and conversations, but our favorite location was on the amazing front porch! The house is in a great location and we could easily walk to restaurants and explore all that Savannah had to offer.

The charm of this beautifully renovated home set the tone for our trip. The decor is absolutely stunning. The furnishings are stylish and comfortable. There are plenty of linens, pillows & towels. The kitchen and bar has everything needed and more. The location of this property is perfect. The street is quiet and so pretty. Plenty of places nearby for a quick bite. It’s centrally located and is half a mile each direction front anywhere you would want to go. We walked everywhere. The front porch is a gem. We spent hours out there from coffee in the morning to cocktails at night. Truly a wonderful place. I don’t usually stay in the same place twice, but I can’t imagine a better house is Savannah and will likely return.

Fantastic Location, very clean and has everything!

We were very pleased with the Simon. I was immaculate when we arrived, and it had every appliance and kitchen equipment that you can name. We only used our car to go to a nearby grocery store .

Visited in October with 7 friends. The Simon has new ownership in 2020 and has benefitted from furniture updates, appliance updates... everything! The property was super-clean and well-stocked with supplies. We loved the proximity of the Simon to downtown points of interest and restaurants. Parking behind the building was convenient. Après sightseeing, it's wonderful to just relax and sit on the wraparound porch with a beverage whilst taking in the Savannah vibe! We will definitely be back.

The Simon, a spectacular Victorian, is perfectly situated to explore Historic Savannah on foot. It’s been lovingly renovated and is pristine, beautifully appointed, well-provisioned, and exceedingly comfortable. The mattresses gave us heavenly sleeps, and the wrap-around porch provided exquisite moments of relaxation in between exploratory activities. The owners made us feel warmly welcomed. Their recommendations were flawless. We especially enjoyed the architecture tour, Jepson Cafe, Husk, Elizabeth’s, and the Collins Quarter. Can’t wait to return!

We loved our stay at the Simon! We were a group of 8 girls coming from all over the country, and spent Thursday - Sunday at the house. The house was just as described online, if not even better. We all thought it was such a highlight to our trip. The location is fantastic (about a 10 minute stroll down to the water or up to Forsyth Park) and the neighborhood is so cute. We had an issue with the front door lock that Luck Savannah handled immediately. We would absolutely recommend this to anyone planning a trip to Savannah.

Nice combination of historic charm and modern amenities. House was stocked with everything we needed for our 4 night stay during the Savannah Music Festival. As wine drinkers we particularly enjoyed the abundance and selection of wine glasses. Perfect location to visit all aspects of downtown Savannah. Parking space for 3 vehicles available directly behind the house. “The Simon” exceeded our expectations in every regard!

This is my first vacation stay review. Overall we could not be more pleased! Everything about the property is as stated and pictured. Beautiful remodel, finishes and hospital grade CLEAN. The central location was perfect... Uber too and from the airport only. This is a large home but still felt cozy for my wife and two daughters. Yes the WIFI is a struggle upstairs, but we all struggle with WIFI issues these days ;). For what its worth, I would suggest EERO mesh wifi to owner. I use in several similar houses with no issues.

As important, Anthony with Lucky Savannah was EXTREMELY knowledgeable, responsive and pleasant. You will be well served to hang on to him!

Thanks again to the owners and Lucky Savannah for a wonderful long weekend!

Prepare to be impressed!

A beautiful house in the heart of Savannah's historic district. Within easy walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and city tours. We never used our car. House was spacious enough to accommodate two families of four. The porch was an unexpected bonus. Hated to leave!

Wow ! The Simon was the perfect accommodations for my family this past weekend for my daughters wedding in Savannah ! The Lucky Savannah staff made everything easy while booking . I was able to personally meet the owner of the home through a mutual friend and the pride and attention to detail that him and his wife put into this home is on point ! My daughter and I are both Interior Designers and were so impressed with the beautiful yet cozy decor . Upon arrival we were greeted with yummy cookies and coffee . My elderly dad had his own room and bathroom downstairs which was great! The wrap around porch and the convenience of the location were great bonuses ! We had everything we could possibly need ! Plenty of nice towels, linens , beautiful tableware and nice cookware . The home is breathtaking ! We were able to have three parking spaces which was so nice ! They even have games to play. We couldn’t have been more happier with our selection of choosing the Simon ! I highly recommend the Simon . You will not be dissatisfied ! It is as good as it gets and then some ! We are huge fans ! Simon says you have to try them ! It was our best weekend ever !! I give them as many stars as there are in the sky !
