Description

Built in 1842 and having recently completed a full exterior renovation, this beautiful home looks better than ever with fresh paint, new shutters and lovely landscaping! Not only feeling pretty on the outside, the inside is also feeling the love with new air conditioning and humidity controls for the top floors of the home, a new tankless water heater (long, hot showers - YES!) and new large smart TV in the den.

Nestled in a fabulous neighborhood and desired location steps from River Street, the Kimpton Brice Hotel and Washington Square, guests are able to easily walk to popular restaurants and shopping, including Pacci, Savannah's famed Pink House, legendary Leopold's Ice Cream, Broughton Street and beyond.

Designed as a southern retreat for its Savannah native, NYC-based owners, the home has been tastefully decorated featuring a mix of modern elements, locally sourced antiques and accessories, as well as custom pieces. The open floor plan is light-filled and sophisticated with original heart of pine floors and period moldings throughout. Highlights include a super plush Shabby Chic couch in the living room overlooking East Saint Julian, a chic dining room featuring a custom table, fireplace and gorgeous crystal chandelier, and fully stocked kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a butcher block island. The master bedroom welcomes you with a beautiful Ralph Lauren Queen size bed, views of Riverstreet fireworks, a flat-screen TV, and a custom California closet offering plenty of space to unpack. Adjacent to the master, a family room with large Smart TV and spacious desk for any work that needs attending to easily converts to an additional bedroom with Mitchell Gold's Super Lux Queen sleeper sofa. The top floor of the house boasts views of the Cathedral and the twinkling Talmadge bridge at night and features three original Jack Leigh prints, the famous photographer most known for his photo of the "Bird Girl," which was chosen for the cover of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

The private rear courtyard, featuring a built-in professional gas grill, awaits your inner Bobby Flay. The perfect spot for visiting with friends and family, dining alfresco, or just relaxing as you listen to the gentle clip-clop of the horse-drawn carriages that regularly saunter by. Please take note, smoking is not allowed on the premises of this home, including the courtyard.

Access the garden apartment through the picket face and second private courtyard. The owner has taken special care to fill the apartment with modern furnishings and bright colors, all to sit well with the apartment's most historic features from 1842. You'll pass the master bath with Carrera marble tile and enter into the master bedroom. Enjoy falling into the luxurious King size bed after a long day of sightseeing. A bonus room with Full size bed and neighboring washer and dryer makes this a great pick for young families. Cook a quick bite to eat in the fully-equipped kitchen before setting off to explore downtown. When you return, the private courtyard with patio furniture is the perfect place to perch and sip before ending the day.

With four bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, the main house comfortably accommodate up to eight Lucky guests. The garden apartment on the ground level of the home with separate entrance offers the two additional bedrooms, which accommodates an additional four guests. Please inquire for details.

Overall, our experience was good. It got off to a rough start, though. We did not receive the access code for the main house as expected which meant that I had to call for it en route from the airport. I was told that it was the same as the garden apt. code (which we had). This was not the case. We waited a fair amount of time before things were sorted out once we got to the house. Secondly, we were not able to park our rental car in the garage as anticipated. I would hope that for the future it could be made more clear in the description that a compact car is needed to utilize the garage. When you are renting a larger home most people will not have a compact car. It created quite a bit of hassle with street parking in terms of keeping the car on the correct side of the street, finding a spot, and needing to pay extra for parking. We were also dismayed to find that the quota of one roll of toilet paper, one dishwasher tab, etc. was not entirely true. We went ahead and purchased ahead of time with delivery made just after we arrived. Never needed those items... Beyond those hiccups, we found the home lovely. Room to spread out as well as congregate. Fun to stay in a home built in 1842 and wonder about who had been there before. Clean, well maintained. Super convenient location and easy to walk to most anywhere.

We loved the house and the appointments available were sufficient..lots of kitchen items, bathroom etc. We were there for my son's wedding and the extra den area on 2nd level was awesome for the babies to play and spread out and play. Great location and charming decor. I liked the mix of old and modern decor. We had a few issues with a couple of things not working..1 in main house and 2 things in garden apt. They were responsive and fixed it, although the same thing happened again in garden apt.the 2nd night. Overall a very good experience though.

We were in Savannah for a family girls trip. This house was beautifully maintained and decorated.. We had nine woman and there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The only issue we had, was the ice maker didn't work. This house was in a great location. Since we didn't cook, we walked all over the historic district for meals, shopping, sightseeing.. When we couldn't locate the keys for the lower level, Lucky Savannah had someone over within five minutes.. We had a wonderful long weekend and when we come back to Savannah, we will most certainly use Lucky Savannah again...

We recently rented this home as well as the below garden apartment and it was a beautiful place with all the amenities we needed. We were very comfortable and the location was perfect for us. The large dining room table was a wonderful place for much conversation daily. We were there with family and friends for our son’s wedding and this space allowed for all of us to be together and enjoy each other’s company. There were a couple of minor issues that we dealt with. Not all of the TV’s in the bedrooms were working which was not huge but would have been nice when we retreated to ours rooms for the night. Also, the dryer takes a very long time to dry towels that we had to wash daily and lastly we were not made aware that there is a street sweeper that would be coming through in the early hours of Friday as the small sign on the street was hard to see the night when we came in and we parked in the spaces of that side of the street and four of our vehicles were ticketed a $25 fine. Other than that it was a wonderful stay and we were very pleased. Would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend.

We had a very pleasant stay at the St. Julian House and Garden. The house was beautiful and very clean and in such a great location - close to shopping, restaurants, and church. We were able to walk everywhere! There were a few glitches with the property, but Lucky Savannah was right there and on top of everything. They always responded immediately and were understanding and courteous. We did have to buy parking passes but are promised reimbursement. We definitely enjoyed our stay and may choose that property for a future stay.
