Description

This grand 5-bedroom home, located on the most famous residential street of Savannah, was built in 1883 for the former Chairman of the Chatham County Commission, Joseph J. Dale. A beautiful Italianate exterior with foot-thick walls encloses 4200 square feet of living space on 3 stories.The home boasts 12-foot ceilings, original fireplaces, and heart pine floors.
 
The main entrance is on the parlor level, with bedrooms on both the top floor above and garden level below. A porch adorned with wooden flourishes covers the front door. Next to the entrance, a plaque designates the historic landmark status of the property.  Inside, the parlor has floor-to-ceiling bay windows from which to spot the occasional horse-drawn carriage on tour.  An archway frames the formal dining room and table with seating for 10, lighted by the soft twinkling of a magnificent crystal chandelier. At the back of the house is a gourmet kitchen outfitted with Kitchen Craft cupboards, two farmers porcelain sinks, sub-zero refrigerator, and a Thermador commercial stove. A breakfast area seats six and a balcony overlooks the courtyard.
 
Head up the banister stairway to find 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms on the top floor.  The front room contains a king bed and comfortable chairs where you can read while looking out on the live oaks of Jones. A middle bedroom includes a queen bed, armoire, and skylight. A 3rd bedroom in back, decorated with golden wall coverings and a queen bed, overlooks the garden and enjoys soft morning light.
 
Downstairs from the parlor floor is a garden-level ground floor with two spacious bedrooms, a TV den, a full bathroom, and a kitchenette. The front bedroom contains a king bed and dark wood furnishings. The garden-facing back bedroom contains a queen bed and views of the lion-head fountain. Garden level French doors open onto the flower- and vine-laden courtyard area behind the house featuring two Lion Head fountains. Outdoor chairs and tables enable al fresco dining.

This unit has free, on-street parking right outside the front door. Availability will depend on time of day and season. Our guests have not reported trouble parking near the home, even on the busiest of weekends.

The house was beautiful, but the sink in the downstairs bathroom was inoperable. This unexpected issue was a big inconvenience for my friends who stayed in the lower level. Despite numerous promises of a refund, it never came through.

My friends and I could not have been more pleased than we were with the accommodations. Each of us, all rather mature gentlemen, had our own room which we all wanted. The home was very clean and the furniture and accessories were of high quality. The location was iseal doe our stay.

Such a comfortable and stunning home. Fabulous location far enough away from the tourist spots, neither noise nor parking were an issue, however, we were able to walk almost anywhere in the historic district. Without question, we would stay again and highly recommend.

We were a group of five guys that came in from all over and this house exceeded all of our expectations. Very well thought out, super close in.

Our experience was perfect! The location is walking distance to most major attractions and in a quiet neighborhood; we felt safe! The house is gorgeous. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and large. The living areas, dining room, and kitchen make it nice for large parties to enjoy meals together or hangout after a long day waking around town.

Six women who went to college together 45 years ago , reunited in this perfect home! Spacious bedrooms, 2 kitchens stocked with every gadget imaginable, lovely outdoor spaces to relax. Walking distance to everything we wanted to do. And the street is understandably known as the most beautiful street in Savannah. Nicest vacation home I have ever rented.

This was the PERFECT stay for my family during my wedding weekend. Location was convenient. The house was stunning. So much space and so many rooms available to fit all the guests. There were some minor inconveniences, such as a sink that was under maintenance, and a shower faucet that took some time to figure out - but their service was incredible and immediate. Some rooms could have used more mirrors and space to hang clothing. Would definitely consider Lucky Savannah in the future for a large group!

Beautiful house on Jones Street that was a perfect location to everything. Only complaint would be that the shower heads all need to be descaled of the lime build up so that the water flows normally and not in a crazy pattern that you have to chase to get hair rinsed.

We booked this home for 10 family members, 4 teenagers and 6 adults. This is a lovely, lovely historic home allowed all of us to spread out and have our own private areas. The bonus room on the first floor was perfect for the teenagers, and us adults enjoyed the formal living room. The covered outdoor porches were a nice addition to watch a thunderstorm blow through. We would absolutely book this place again. There are a few things that could improve the experience that are really just a maintenance checklist. The only reason why I am even posting it, is because the property owners and/or managers may simply not be aware. We were all given one set of bath linens per person. There were no closets with additional bed or bath linens in the event we might need them. There is a washer and dryer which was great , but a stocked linen closet would be more helpful. The two showers upstairs have poor water pressure. This could be a plumbing thing or maybe just maintenance to the fixtures. Full sized ironing boards, a stock of garbage can liners, and a checklist of the appliances to make sure they are in working condition (toaster in fist floor kitchen), could make the experience a little more like home. Maybe on the “what to expect” from your AirBnb could simply outline what is provided and what may patrons need to supply so that they can prepare ahead for their stay. Overall, this was splendid experience in a luxurious home, and these additional suggestions are only intended to amplify it!

House was absolutely beautiful! Great location. 11 ladies made a quick trip to Savannah. It was a mothers-daughters trip. We were all amazed at this house. The pictures are beautiful but doesn’t do the house it’s justice. By far the most beautiful vacation rental we’ve ever seen. If your looking for a beautiful house for a large group, there’s no better choice.

We had a wonderful weekend staying at this beautiful Savannah home! The house was stunning, the beds were so comfortable and it was in a nice area. There was plenty of space for everyone and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. The bathrooms were a little dated (took a bit for the hot water to kick in) and the wifi was finicky but overall, we loved the house and would stay here again!

We have stayed at many rental properties over the past several years but this is the first review that I have written. Our experience at this home was truly wonderful. The home was exceptionally clean, well maintained, and nicely furnished. Prior to booking, I was concerned that the location was a little further from River Street than desired. However, this turned out to be an advantage. The property seems to be in the perfect "spot". The neighborhood was quiet and not heavily trafficked. The walk to the river and Forsyth park were quite easy. Perfect home, perfect location, perfect weekend!

We spent three days in Savannah with eight of our closest friends for our 20th wedding anniversary. We visit Savannah very often but we’ve never stayed in a VRBO. This experience was way better than expected and the house could not have been more perfect! The house was actually bigger than the pictures made it out to be and the condition of the property was perfect. The location was absolutely fantastic; Convenient to lots of bars and restaurants yet not in the hustle and bustle.

We came down for a bachelorette party and this place could not be more perfect. Most of us are in our 30's and comfortably fit 10 girls in the 5 bedrooms.

Check in and check out was very easy and conveniently done without having to meet with anyone.

Location: quaint street within a 15-20 minute walk (4 min ride) to most attractions and events.

We will be coming back and definitely staying here again! 10/10 recommend

The house was beautiful! The house shows much better than the pictures! Excellent location and more than enough room for 6 women. The only reason I cannot give 5 stars is due to only 1 out of the 3 showers having hot water and the shower heads needing to be clean to get the full effect. Otherwise I strongly recommend the property!

We had a group of 5 lifelong friends stay at the J.J Dale House and we were incredibly impressed. The house is on the most beautiful street in Savannah and is extremely impressive looking. The agents at Lucky Savannah were responsive and accommodating to all of our needs and requests.
