Description

Built in 1853, Canterbury Main overlooks the Live Oaks of Chatham Square. With three bedrooms and one and a half baths, this home can comfortably accommodate up to six Lucky guests in true Southern fashion.

Soaring 12-foot ceilings, wood beams, exposed brick walls, and original ornamental hearths are just some of the details that give this historic home character, all while providing the modern conveniences that make your stay the epitome of luxury. A fully outfitted kitchen with adjacent dining area has everything you’ll need to enjoy a home cooked meal. Behind original pocket doors you’ll find a tastefully appointed living room with plenty of seating and a flat screen TV.

All three bedrooms are upstairs. There are two queen bedrooms, one with a TV, and a third bedroom with a full-size bed that where you’ll feel as if you’re sleeping in the majestic oak tree right outside your windows.

The sprawling courtyard has plush landscaping, plenty of seating, and even a grill for some outdoor cooking. When you’re ready to venture out, you’ll be within walking distance to the best shopping, dining and nightlife Savannah has to offer. Beautiful Forsyth Park, the city’s largest green space and a popular location for weddings and events, is just two minutes away. Grab a burger at the nearby Crystal Beer Parlor, or taste some real Southern cooking at Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House. Wherever you may roam, you’ll have the perfect home-away-from-home to return to at the end of the day.

Our stay at Canterbury Main House was fine overall. The location is great, right on Chatham Square. The fact that there are 2 off-street parking spaces dedicated to this rental is also a plus. Reps from property management company are very responsive to emails. However, I kept getting emails leading up to our trip telling me to get the Lucky Savannah app to help with our stay and each link provided did not work. One rep said there is no app for Android phones, only Apple phones, even though their emails say that it exists for Android. I was able to obtain all needed info through email. Home is quaint and overall nice, but there were several housekeeping items (basic things like shower cleanliness, floor cleanliness, dusting) that need to be addressed as well as TV (streaming only on 1 TV, other TV would not connect to anything), and bed pillows being too hard. I informed property management of these things and supplied pictures and they apologized but that is all. For the price, I expect a little better. Furniture in living area is fine but not comfy. I would say it's definitely not the worst place that you could stay, but it is decent.

This was our first time in Savannah and I'm so glad we stayed here. The location was quiet and walkable to everything. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of seating for our party of 5. The charm and decor creates a relaxing welcoming atmosphere.

Our family of four (2 adults and 2 teens) found this to be a perfect spot. Each kid had their own room. The neighborhood was perfect for what we wanted: quiet and safe feeling so the kids could venture out on their own, walking distance to nice coffee shops and restaurants, short walk to Forsythe Park. Walking distance to the more touristy parts of town but in a quiet neighborhood. House itself is very cute and filled with interesting nic-nacs. Could use another comfortable chair or two. I mark it 4 stars for "clean" because: while it was CLEAN some of the furniture had stains and the back yard was comfortable but a bit overgrown and neglected feeling. But the house, kitchen, beds, bathrooms were all perfectly clean.

Perfect location,on a quiet square within walking distance of attractions. The courtyard garden was a bonus.
A stroll round to Agatha's for coffee is fun. Wish I could have gone to the jazz bar next door as well.
I had a couple of issues with the house which I mentioned on check-out and the delightful lady at the Lucky Savannah office (I wish I'd got her name: she has got customer service down to a T) took that on board.
Would recommend both Savannah and this property.

Very nice area. Beautiful square directly in front of the townhouse. easy walk to Forsyth Park which was beautiful. Inside the townhouse was nice for an old home; so there was a lot we enjoyed about this location and that's why I rated it 4 stars. The reasons it didn't get 5 stars are: You park and enter from the rear. That area does not look good at all. The back gate wouldn't open but just enough for us to get through. It stuck on the concrete and wouldn't open very wide. The back courtyard could be a very nice relaxing area, but it was in such need of maintenance and care that we didn't feel we could fight the weeds and spider webs to use the courtyard. While the inside of the house was nice, there was no comfortable seating area other than the loveseat in the living room. All other seating was uncomfortable, straight chairs with little to no cushion seating. There were spider webs in the lights of the ceiling fans in one of the upstairs bedrooms. I know that sounds like a lot of stuff, but it did not keep us from enjoying our time there. We loved that it was a three bedroom in a lovely area. One note for the concierge, your app recommended and had a link for Old Town Trolley but the link did not give a discount like your app said. We went to the booth location on MLK Blvd. They not only said they don't give discounts, they didn't know Lucky savannah and didn't know why you say we got a discount. They were extremely rude about it when we asked if we got a discount because we were staying with Lucky Savannah. They were so very unprofessional, unfriendly and rude that we left and went next door to Old Savannah Tours. It was totally the opposite. They were friendly. accommodating. the tour was great. Their drivers were friendly and entertaining. I strongly recommend that you change your recommendation to Old Savannah Tours. You should never send anyone to Old Town Trolley. Overall we had a very relaxing, nice week. Check in/out on app with key codes wss great!!!

This house is beautiful and well appointed. The location is perfectly located on a quiet street on a beautiful square near Forsythe within easy walking distance to everything. The furniture is really nice with some antiques. The kitchen is tidy and well stocked. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked. The garden was so cozy. Our only complaints were the beds are awful. You feel springs digging in all night. The pillows were so thin. When on vacation, most people want to feel rested. This did not make it possible, which is sad because otherwise the house was near perfect for a vacation rental. And we rent houses most of the time while vacationing in the US and abroad. So unless we saw it stated on the listing that new improved mattresses were purchased, we would not rent this house again.

The experience was like going back in time. Nestled in a lovely neighborhood on a square. The house was clean and orderly and stocked with supplies you would need for your stay. My only complaint is that the bed I slept in had a plastic mattress pad that “crinkled “ during the night. Not very comfortable. Other that that the location was good and it was a relaxing place.

We rented the Canterbury Main for a week and it was perfect. Everything was within a 20 minute walk. We have three kids and having Forsyth park three blocks away was amazing for taking them somewhere to play. The house had plenty of space for us and having a place to go that felt like home every night was the perfect end to every day.

Our first trip to Savannah and Canterbury Main House was the perfect place to stay. We found the lovely old house clean and comfortable. The kitchen was small, but very well-appointed; we had everything we needed. Beds were very easy on our backs with plenty of pillows. The furnishings were interesting with lots of books to peruse. Be prepared for a lot of steps, both into the house and up to the bedrooms! Our house was located directly across from one of Savannah's lovely squares and we were able to walk to many bars, restaurants and shopping areas. We felt safe walking everywhere, even in the evenings. Can't say enough about Savannah's squares; the blasts of green are each beautifully unique. We highly recommend the Savannah trolley tour for a good look at the high points of the city, which is absolutely rich in history. We will have to come back again soon, as there is much more to explore. We highly recommend visiting both Savannah and the Canterbury Main House.

The unit was clean and with a nicely supplied kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would recommend, the only exception would be if someone has an issue with climbing stairs. Otherwise, perfect!! Our experience with the staff was very professional and helpful.

We took a family trip to Florida, and on the way home we stopped in Savannah, a favorite of both my husband and myself. Usually we get a nice but bland hotel room. This time, I was smart and I got this whole lovely house! It was really nice to feel (for a short while) like I lived in Savannah! The home is well located and well appointed. I love the blue and white porcelain. The bedrooms are very nice and accommodated the five of us comfortably. There is a patio with a seating area and a grill, but the food in Savannah is so great, we did not use the grill. I would definitely stay at this property again. Thank you.

Our family of 4 really enjoyed our 3 nights at this rental. The location is unbeatable. Both walking and driving to various locations in Savannah is easy (and parking around the city was easier than we thought it would be). Just as important, the beauty of the location is amazing. Overlooking Chatham square and right in the middle of a beautiful historic neighborhood. The house itself was a perfect size for us. The 3 bedrooms allowed everyone their own space, and the half bath downstairs was a bonus. There was a lot of decor and we really liked the authentic, historic feel of the house. Linens and towels were plentiful, clean, and good quality. And it was nice to have the soap, toiletries, and kitchen accessories provided. The only thing that was slightly lacking was the comfort of the furniture. The beds were a bit uncomfortable and the living room furniture was not the best for lounging. Definitely did not hinder our stay, though. Last but not least, there is a beautiful private (shared with just immediate neighbors) courtyard just outside the door which was an added bonus.

We chose Lucky Savannah for our mother daughter/baby shower weekend because it seemed close to everything in Historic Savannah. Great choice! we never used our car. Even the tea room we went to for the baby shower was only four blocks away. The house itself was lovely. It was so nice to have spaces to spread out for conversation. The only star I had to take away was under general condition because those steps to the front door are treacherous! Thanks for a great stay!

I've stayed in places before that don't include sheets or towels so I brought my own, but was pleasantly surprised that this house was all inclusive. Everything was clean and beautiful, and we slept well. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

From the moment I first started contacting Lucky Savannah about possible rental opportunities up to the day before our arrival, they could not have been more accommodating. They were always there to answer my questions and address my concerns. I would highly recommend them and specifically Sydney. She was patient and so kind and very knowledgeable. The rental itself was beautiful and clean. We had many conversations about the decor, as we couldn't quite figure out some pieces they had in the home but if nothing else it was a great debate between us. The one thing that was off putting the the scent of the home. When we first arrived it was musty and smelly, like an old museum. You eventually got used to it or maybe the a/c circulated it around so we didn't notice as much but it was definitely there the whole time. Truthfully, we spent minimal time indoors so it was not a big issue for us. Should we return to Savannah I would want to choose a different rental location because of this. Overall, we loved our experience and would recommend to our friends and family.

Everything was easy from start to finish. I downloaded the Lucky Savannah app for easy access to all the check in and check out information and access codes I would need.

The house was cute and elegant. Only a 5 minute walk from downtown Savannah. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. There's no filtered water from the fridge or the facet but that was no problem a gallon of water couldn't fix! We had to cover the window of the door in the kitchen because it had no blinds and it made some of my party uncomfortable, but that was no big deal at all, just a personal preference. The bedrooms were big and roomy with lots of drawers and closet space; the smaller of the three was pretty small because of the big bed but a married couple stayed in that room and they had no complaints. The house was clean and the outdoor courtyard was also very pretty. We had our breakfast out there every morning. There were occupants in every floor of the building but we didn't notice any noise and had no issues with anyone. We made use of the outdoor facet behind the AC unit outside to rinse our cars and were happy with our two parking spaces behind the house in the alley. The alley faces the front door of two homes and it's very well lit so it gave us peace of mind to have our cars back there.

All in all, we LOVED this house and its location (literally 2 mins from the hwy). We will definitely stay here again!

Our experience was great. Property was clean, well stocked, and well-maintained. Within a short walking distance to several restaurants; a bit further to City Market and River St, but definitely doable. I recommend bringing earplugs if you're a light sleeper - the City sweeps the road on early Sunday morning, ambulances, and creaks from adjacent rooms.

Canterbury Main House was a perfect setting for our reunion of three college friends in Savannah. Lovely house in a great location. It was too hot in late August to enjoy the backyard, but the AC in the house worked well and was much appreciated. We would definitely come back or rent from Lucky Savannah again!

We were in town to move our young adult into SCAD. The location was perfect proximity to the college and shops we needed. At the end of long days of moving and organizing, the house was the perfect respite.
The 3rd bedroom is much smaller and a schedule is needed for 6 people to share a bathroom, but it worked out great and we were very happy there.

This was the perfect Savannah house for 5 people. Two couples, one in each of the 2 large bedrooms and a single person in the full sized bed in the small 3rd bedroom. The property was clean and well maintained, and the living spaces felt comfortable and spacious, even when our Savannah family came to visit. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed the time we spent in the courtyard (every morning for breakfast and coffee!). Chatham Square outside our door was peaceful, and Forsythe Park was right around the corner. We loved that we were walking distance to River Street and everything in between (we did take a pedi-cab back once and Uber drivers abound if the city has worn you out). We will definitely stay here again when we are back to visit!

Great place to stay. Four family members fit nicely in the home. Glad to have the extra half bath. Only downfall might be the stairs to get in and the stairs inside up to the bedrooms. Short walk to anywhere you might need to go. Designated parking spot was very handy. Back courtyard was beautiful. Management company very helpful, even made sure to remove all feather pillows, etc.

The photo really does not do justice to the lovely location and atmosphere of this home. Clean, well-stocked, and welcoming. the back garden is delightful. The location is quiet and residential, but perfect for walks to anywhere in the Historic District. The furnishings were beautiful...the only thing we missed was a big comfy chair for sipping tea and reading.

This house was clean and spacious. We had a family of 5 and had lots of space. It was also in a perfect location. Only drawbacks- the living room furniture was more antique then cozy, but we didn't spend a lot of time in the living room. The only other issue was the upstairs toilet. It could have been cleaned a bit more thoroughly under the rim. I am VERY picky about cleanliness of rentals. This was a small thing and would rent from this company and this house again.

From the decor, amenities and location, this is the nicest and most convenient property. We were right at home and able to walk everywhere in the historic district. The House was in a wonderful location and was a beautiful period home. The house inside was clean and organized. The patio outside was great to sit out. While the bed could have been a bit more comfortable, we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed Savannah.
As a side note, we did have an issue with the front door and the mgt team got back to me immediately and were very friendly.

The house was very nice and had a great location near a lot of Savannah attractions. It was right off the main road, which made it easy to get to and from the convention center. The only downside was the couch was to small for anyone to sleep on. The house "sleeps six" but that is with 3 queen beds. We had 5 guys sharing the place and none of us would fit on that couch. Luckily I brought a cot and two of us doubled up. Definitely would recommend and would rent again.

We stayed at the Canterbury House the week prior to our daughter's wedding. What a great place! The best part was the courtyard. The house was perfect for our needs and close to everything. We met the owners when we were "moving in." They are fabulous! I highly recommend Canterbury House, and we will be back! We enjoyed grilling fresh shrimp from Russo's Seafood Market, dining OFTEN at the Crystal Beer Parlor, dinner at The Old Pink House, a wedding rehearsal dinner at The Whitman, wedding at The Harper-Fowlkes House and wedding dinner at Vic's On the River. Public and Six Pence Pub were also excellent choices. We love Savannah and renting thru Lucky Savannah is the best way to enjoy the city.

The house and carriage house were exactly as described and so comfortable for the 8 of us. It was a perfect distance from downtown which made for healthy, interesting walks each day. There was plenty of information about the logistics of the stay along with things to do in the area.

I stayed in the three bedroom unit at Canterbury .It was so beautiful,quiet and comfortable it was hard to get out the door in the morning.
The location is perfect for walking to all the squares,the waterfront and to any productions.We BBQ every evening in the beautiful courtyard which really helped to unwind from the day and share our stories. I loved it and already plan on staying there again.

Our annual girl's trip took us to Savannah this year. Six of us stayed in the Canterbury Main House, two of us stayed in the garden apartment. Both properties were terrific. Can't say enough about the location - we enjoyed the walk to town multiple times each day. Several in our group are runners and had great runs around nearby Forsyth Park and the beautiful neighborhood we were staying in. All in all, it was a win for our group!

The place is fantastic. Perfect location within walking distance of Forsyth Park, the Bull Street thoroughfare, and the downtown bars and restaurants. Great location! Really enjoyed taking our time through the different parks and we easily walked everywhere. One thing. We had trouble entering the home initally, due to the back gate being locked. We were able to get through the gate next door and then retrieve the key to the gate from inside the home. Gotta be a better way to enter. Would use this home again when we come to Savannah. Thanks!

We absolutely loved this house. The location is perfect - on a beautiful square that is so quiet, yet close enough to walk everywhere. The back garden is gorgeous - we enjoyed meals and just hanging out there. Kitchen was really well-equipped. Beds were really good (the one double was so-so) and the amenities were great. A beautiful home in the heart of the historic district - Canterbury Main was as charming as its listing described. Two girlfriends and I stayed in this 3-bedroom throwback to another time in Savannah's history. The home was a great blend of the historical (antiques everywhere (hence the copious amount of coasters providing a constant giggle to us all, pocket doors I imagine throwing open to welcome everyone to the dining room) and modern (central air, washer/dryer). A few very small issues with our stay - the door locks are still a bit of a mystery to us, dishwasher is very small and fills up quickly. But these are quirks that can be overlooked (or, in the case of the doorlocks, partially remedied by a very quick response from Joshua, Joy and Brooke at lucky Savannah!) We would definitely go back any time we are in town! And it bears repeating - the folks at Lucky Savannah were GREAT. Responsive, helpful, cheerful...perfect.

This was a great house for a long weekend with 3 couples. It is walking distance from River Street, City Market, Forsyth Park, Broughton Street... basically everything. I thought that the house was nicer than it looked in the pictures. Everything was clean and well maintained. We took advantage of the shared courtyard. There are two reserved parking spaces behind the house which was a bonus. Note that one of the bedrooms was significantly smaller than the other two.

The proerty management company was easy to work with. I downloaded their app which gave me all the info we needed. The company accommodated us with an early check in, which was appreciated.

A group of my girlfriends and I stayed here over a weekend for a Bachlorette party. The stay overall was a 5, very clean, slept all of us comfortably, great location! Parking was not a issue, I'd definitely recomand it!
