The Bird-Baldwin House has a rich, southern history. Built by Lewis Bird in 1838, it is the oldest home in Savannah South of Liberty Street. Bird, a prominent Savannah attorney, began the construct but tragically perished with his entire family on the Steamboat Pulaski when it exploded and sank off the coast of North Carolina on June 14, 1838. Bird's mother completed the house and sold it to his law partner, Mr. Baldwin, who lived in it for many years.

The house was commandeered and occupied by General Sherman’s staff as a temporary headquarters in December 1864, after Sherman’s infamous March to the Sea. The Bird-Baldwin House survived many subsequent transformations, including time as a boarding house and tavern known as “Harry’s Place,” before finally being restored and renovated.

This Savannah condo offers soaring ceilings, Savannah heart pine flooring, and large windows. The galley kitchen has everything you need to enjoy a meal, or to warm up any leftovers from Savannah’s extensive selection of restaurants. Fully equipped with all of the modern conveniences one could ask for; Convection oven/microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, dishes & utensils and a coffee maker. Enjoy a morning cup of joe on the back porch, or a evening glass of wine after a long day of sightseeing.

You’ll be a short walk from the Savannah Visitor’s Center, where you can easily pick up a guided trolley tour. While you’re out, have lunch at Soho South Cafe. Dishes like their Seared Salmon BLT (with spinach, tomato, bacon, and a tangy garlic aioli on a toasted honey wheat roll ) and Howlin’ Chicken (fried chicken breast with fried pickles, cheddar cheese, and house made jalapeno ranch) will make you glad you did!

This unit includes a private parking space located at the rear of the property. Additional vehicles will need to be park on the street, which may be metered or non-metered. A charming, historical apartment in a great Savanah location. Very nicely located to easily walk to all the beautiful amenities Savannah has to offer. No hassle parking right at the house made it very convenient upon arrival. A treasure trove of antiques fill the spacious apartment. We could have stayed for weeks. Great getaway.

This apartment is right in the heart of it all. We very much enjoyed walking to everything in the historical district. Parking is difficult in this area, so having the parking spot with the house was perfect, the car never moved once there. The home is well decorated, beautiful and just adds to the Savannah experience. The bathroom is well updated and very spacious. The kitchen has all the amenities you need. We couldn't have been happier with this place! There is some road noise, because the location is so good. I thought it would bother me, but it didn't at all. Don't pass this up if that's your only concern.

This was a great place for me... awesome location for being near SCAD, private parking spot, kitchen for cooking when I didn't feel like eating out or heating up leftovers, and plenty of room to lounge. Really appreciated the space and the cleanliness.

I stayed at the Bird Baldwin House on a recent weekend visit to Savannah. The location is perfect; easy to walk everywhere downtown and in the historic district. It's close to the river and Forsyth Park; essentially located right in between. It was like staying in a home away from home. We had a great time staying at the Brid Baldwin House. It was in a great neighborhood, close enough to walk to the action north of us, but in a little quieter setting. The apartment was comfortable and well appointed. The Public was a great restaurant just a few blocks away and one of our favorite dining experiences. Charming apartment in a charming city. Also, we felt completely safe walking home late at night. A really nice stay all the way around.

This unit occupies half of the third level of the restored 1838 building and is furnished to match along with a modern kitchenette and bathroom. It was clean and well-maintained, and the south-facing balcony was a definite plus. There was moderate traffic noise from Liberty St but not more than I would have expected from a city centre location.

The location sits roughly halfway between the Broughton St shopping area and Forsyth Park, both of which are about a 10 minute walk. The closest car rental agency to the historic centre is also about a 10 minute walk, which I took advantage of for a day trip to the beach at Tybee Island.

If you prefer to dine out, there are many options nearby including two just adjacent to the property (neither of which I visited but both looked very busy). The nearest supermarket is closer to 15 minutes away so without a car you may wish to order online and pay for delivery. I had breakfast at Goose Feathers Cafe, lunch at Flying Monk Noodle Bar and the Grey Market, and dinner at Crystal Beer Parlor, all of which I would recommend.

Booking, check-in and departure were all fast and easy thanks to the property management company's downloadable app.

Excellent location within walking distance to a fabulous Savannah experience. There is some traffic noise but it is not bothersome. This house is on a main thoroughfare. Pulaski Square is a block away even though it is featured in the photos of this property. The building and our unit felt safe. Parking lot was lighted although it was not fenced. There are two flights of stairs to this unit on the top floor. There is a fence with a gate surrounding the rear of the building. The gate is always locked so a key is needed to enter. Accommodations were lovely and comfortable. Linens and towels were high quality. There were two under cabinet lights in the kitchen that were not working, which was a disappointment as we used the kitchen quite often. Checkin/checkout was contactless and was very appreciated. Instructions for arrival and checkout were timely and understandable.

Unit was fantastic! Very clean with all the needed appliances/utensils needed for our stay. Had an issue with parking in the lot but Lucky Savannah took care of it within an hour. Street noise is present as some other reviewers mentioned but not a deal breaker. Would definitely recommend this unit and Lucky Savannah as an agency.

I Have traveled many times to Savannah and this has been one of my favorite locations. It’s perfect for two people. The bed is firm enough that you don’t notice the other person moving around. So if you like super soft - may not be for you. The place is beautifully decorated and updated. There is street noise, but we turned on the box fan and never heard it. It has a private parking space. It I was very handy to have this; although, we were able to walk to a lot of places easily. Always felt safe and would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in late April 2022 for a 4 day weekend. The old home has been converted to 6 apts. Nice period style furnishings with old wood floors. Bathroom had a complete remodel and is very nice. The bathroom is not adjacent to the bedroom so just a heads up you have to walk through the living room - not a problem. The kitchen is very small with little counter space but adequate since most of the time you are likely eating out. Has a Keurig and regular coffee maker and a small fridge. Suggest some decent wine glasses,a good cork screw (one provided was pretty flimsy) for the cupboard and a kettle for tea.The location was great - just a few blocks from some of the nice squares and from Bay and river street. Forsyth park nearby has a farmers market on Saturdays. I understand why but none of the windows open so even though weather was awesome, we had to have the a/c on all the time and the apt. has a musty smell. The windows are very thin single pane glass so the biggest issue was the noise from the busy Liberty Street. It was pretty bad. You could hear peoples conversations on the street as they talked or argued on the sidewalk. I would not recommend it for that reason alone but we live in a rural area and the noise is likely more of an issue to use that to others. The other issue is that there is a back porch but it has no view and overlooks the parking lot. Nice to be able to sit outside but not great. The porch is shared with the next apt. but that did present a problem and had nice conversations with next guests. Apt. was very clean and reasonably well appointed. The tvs are basic but you dont go there to watch TV. Nice weekend visit but for us, the noise was a real problem for sleeping.

We had the top floor unit in this beautiful old house in the middle of old Savannah. It is perfectly located in the middle of the historic district, so we could walk anywhere in town. The only downside was that it is right on Liberty Street, which is a thoroughfare that has traffic almost all the time, including busses and trucks. Also neighboring businesses love to blow leaves late and early. The free parking in back is nice, the unit was huge and comfortable and well-furnished, and getting in and out was simple. It is managed by Lucky Savannah, a very professional group.

My husband and I stayed in the Bird Baldwin House while I visited Savannah for work. We loved the central location of the house and the fact that it was right next to a coffee shop! The amenities were wonderful, it was easy to access, and the bed is comfortable. The bedroom is situated right next to a main (and busy) street, however, so there was a lot of noise as we tried to fall asleep. Despite that, we’d happily stay again!

This room is gorgeous. It has historic furnishings and everything you need to for a long (or short) stay. The private parking was a major plus (we did not move our vehicle our entire four day stay). It is within close proximity to almost everything, and it is right along Bull Street so you don't feel as though you are walking in a city. The walks were very pleasant and easy to do! I loved the outdoor seating (on the third floor balcony porch) which allowed us to enjoy the sunshine before we had to get ready for a wedding in the evening. Noise was an issue at first, but we adjusted quickly and that is to be expected when staying in a city (we are from a rural area). It was a beautiful room in a gorgeous city! Perfect.

The room/suite was even more beautiful than we expected. Lots of room and a beautifully maintained home.Less than a block away from the DOT bus stop and near several restaurants. Not a bed and breakfast so no food, but next door to a fantastic coffee house! If stairs are a challenge (steep and narrow) you might want to request a bottom floor room.

Spacious apt with big sleeping room and closet
Nice kitchen but we didn’t use it much.
The bath is not attached to the bedroom so you have to walk through the living space to access the bathroom.
There was plenty of toilet paper etc.
Also we happy to have a safe free place to park the car.

This is our second stay at unit 6 in the Bird Baldwin House. It is a short walk to downtown and is close to a few good restaurants, including a coffee shop next door. The unit is spacious and comfortable. There is a small kitchen, a living area and a large bedroom. One of the best perks for renting at the Bird Baldwin House is that there is a parking spot designated for your unit.

At first I wasn't sure about choosing this rental for our anniversary trip, because of conflicting reviews. This house was beautiful living right on Liberty (Which was not noisy at all, although school wasn't in). There was a box fan however for noise at night. We had a stocked kitchen to cook in, stove and dishwasher too. The bathroom has a stand up shower and a Jacuzzi. For some reason there was no warm/hot water coming out which was disappointing, like it ran out. There are a total of six rooms in the house. The bed is pretty comfortable, but the pillows are not. Great living room space too. There is a coffee shop right next to the house which was a treat and you can walk (25 to river, 15 to SCAD, 10-15 to Forsyth) everywhere or bike.

My husband and I take a long weekend to Savannah once a year. We stayed at the Bird Baldwin house this year and it did not disappoint. Everything from booking to checkout was easy and hassle free. The condo was clean and absolutely beautiful. Location could not have been more perfect as we were able to walk to all the sites. At the end of a hot day of exploring we would grab a pizza from down the street and some pastries from the bistro next door and relax on the couch. Just a perfect romantic holiday! Thank you.

The Bird Baldwin House is centrally & conveniently located to all that Downtown Savannah has to offer; located about half-way between Bay St. and Forsyth Park. The assigned off-street parking spot is a true gift in this neighborhood. I liked the fact that the apartment was on the top floor (3rd), it made it feel secure; however, if you are not able to climb several flights of stairs, it might be an issue for you. Super convenient to many dining options, ALL price points. The apartment was clean and well-appointed. Lucky Savannah may want to consider removing that giant Jacuzzi tub, though, it takes up a lot of room in the bathroom. The only other recommendation for this apartment is an over-all modernizing/remodel of the bathroom; it feels dated and old. BUT, otherwise, this is an excellent place to stay whilst in Savannah and I will be happy to return!

What an incredible experience the Bird Baldwin home is. The tall ceilings and doors are amazing taking you back to the late 1800s. The rooms are very spacious with extraordinary feng shui. The bathroom have a modern twist which is so great to step into modern times when you’re getting ready to go out and explore historic Savannah. Would stay here again and again.

We stayed at the Bird Baldwin House and it was perfect for the two of us! Within walking distance to everything and plenty of room. Lovely large bathroom, nice sitting area and we enjoyed the location and parking. You do hear traffic in bedroom, but this is to be expected in any city. We found the place to be well cared for and clean. A nice walk in closet was a bonus too! We would recommend this property, but it is on the third floor and would not be ideal if you are unable to do stairs.

We loved this location! I loved that we had a full kitchen if you are planning to cook, you may want to bring your pans, they are very cheap. Having the parking spot was a major plus. We did bring our fan, but there is a box fan in the closet. We did find it was easier to come in via the Front door rather than the skinny back door stairs. The back door was hard to open sometimes too. Overall, Lucky Savannah Staff was incredible!
For Savannah, its hot drinks lots of water. And don't forget your mask :)
The trolly tour was worth it.
We had our best meal at Tricks BBQ, and Zunzi's!

We stayed at Bird Baldwin for a long get-a-way weekend. We loved the location...walking distance to everything, and the accommodations were perfect from the crisp sheets to the fantastic updated bathroom. Private, quiet and perfect for two people. The place was spotless when we arrived and had all the amenities that we needed. The rental process was a breeze and the check in and check out process were extremely easy. The only thing we will do next time is bring our own pillows as the ones in the rental were a little firm for my wife. Otherwise, we couldn't have had a better experience.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Bird Baldwin House! It’s location is located in the historic district, but is within walking distance to River Street and many amenities. The rental property was easy to find with a designated parking area! The only issue that we had during our experience was the keypad! It didn’t work correctly, but we were provided with a key when we checked in from the app, so it was not problem at all. The app is very handy and provides all details needed about the property! We will definitely be returning to Savannah and will continue to use Lucky Savannah for our stay. Overall, we had a great experience!

Our apartment was on the 3rd floor with a front and back entry. We mostly used the back entry as it was adjacent to our parking space. There is a lovely south-facing porch area that was appreciated as our stay was in December. The inside space is very nice- clean, huge bedroom, huge newly reno'd bathroom, a good sized sitting/living area, and a very small kitchen.

I would highly recommend this rental. I have stayed at numerous rentals in Savannah and this was one of the best. The interior provides a nice combination of southern antique with an upgraded bathroom and comfortable mattress. Added benefit is a parking spot in the back.

Great location! The home is historic and charming. Everything you could need is in the flat. Liberty St is loud, so if you’re sensitive to sound, this is not a place to stay. We ended up having to sleep on the pull out couch because the bedroom is in the front of the house and you hear all the traffic from liberty st

My husband and I spent a fabulous week in Savannah at the Bird Baldwin House. It was the perfect spot for exploring downtown Savannah by foot. An easy walk to Forsyth Park, the SCAD Story, the historic Cobblestone district and so much more. The space was clean, bright and spacious! I would definitely recommend this spot!

Very much enjoyed our stay in the Bird-Baldwin house. Pictures and descriptions are accurate. Rooms seemed bigger than pictures and plenty of room for meal prep in kitchen. Great location. Easy walk to Forsyth Park and river. Bedroom is in front of the apartment, facing Liberty Street. Street is busy even at night so bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Apartment is clearly show on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator so not for mobility impaired.

We loved the B-B House--beautifully appointed, very clean, good location, and off-street parking was a plus. There were however several things that Lucky Savannah needs to do to help make the customer's visit hassle-free--and help their own customer service reps' jobs less stressful. The keys need to be tagged (no green or red on them at all); gate entry was super confusing. Door entry had the wrong code. A shout out to Katrin who was very helpful--but she shouldn't have to do so much. The ceiling lights in the living room were out--but the fix-it form worked well. The biggest issue for us were the dogs that were in the first floor apt. We chose the B-B House because there were NO PETS ALLOWED. These dogs were loud and barky and Lucky Savannah made no visible attempt to remedy the situation. That is a problem--please enforce your own rules. Otherwise, the apartment is beautiful and comfy and we would recommend it. Lucky Savannah needs to fix some issues--and give Katrin a raise!

Loved the location of this place. Walking distance to River St. and the downtown bars/restaurants. Stayed here for the Savannah Marathon, and was about equidistant from the starting line and finish line. My wife really enjoyed the coffee place next door (Savannah coffee roasters). The place was very clean, easy to find, and all the amenities that were supposed to be provided were present and then some. My only complaint for the place was the road noise. Even being on the 3rd floor, the road noise was very evident. Pretty sure just some new windows would help that immensely, but otherwise our stay was wonderful.

What a great place to spend a few days in Savannah. Location was so convenient. We were doing the Savannah Bridge Walk, which started right across the street. No Worries about parking or crowds. Easy access to downtown, Crystal Palace. Not recommended for those who have difficulty with stairs.

The suite was very clean and we loved the decor. Just know that suite #6 is on the third floor with lots of stairs to climb. We were unable to use the wifi because the name "Bird Baldwin House" was not recognized. That was a big disappointment but there is a coffee shop around the corner that does have free wifi. Pleased that we were able to walk to most places around the city.

Very comfortable and a great location. The only problem was there was no laundry and had to spend a morning at the laundrymat. The apartment is very spacious and furnished nicely. Would rather washer/dryer instead of the big tub.

We loved our experience in Savannah! This was our 50th wedding anniversary trip and it was so great.
It was like having a home away from home. Our rental was on the 3rd floor which was a bit of a chore getting our stuff upstairs, but doable. We so loved this venue. Close to the visitors center and walking distance from great

Great get away for what I needed. Location was perfect and so was the space. I was alone but there's definitely enough room for two adults. Walking distance to everything in the historic district. Easy drive to Tybee Island. Liberty is a little noisey. I'm an early riser so it did not bother me. If you want to sleep all day the noise might be a problem.

This rental is a great place to stay during a visit in Savannah for a couple. It is located close to the visitor's center, a great coffee shop that offers delicious meals all day long, and walking distance to downtown. A designated parking spot in the back of the house is provided for you so you do not have to worry about where you will need to park you car. The rental had everything that you will need to feel at home for your stay. A small kitchen that was full of all that you would need for small meals, a great living room to relax in, and a large bedroom and closet with a comfortable king size bed. The bathroom was spacious and even had a whirlpool bathtub. We enjoyed sitting in chairs outside on the veranda. This rental is on the third floor, so you do need to be comfortable climbing stairs.

We booked a last minute trip for our first anniversary. We prefer to walk and wanted to stay and enjoy a more local experience. The Bird Baldwin was a lovely condo with lots of space and a fairly comfortable bed. The parking space is a huge bonus. The management company was very helpful and the app made checking in and out as simple as it could be. Would definitely revisit Savannah and stay in any of the Lucky Savannah properties.

A great place for two. Cozy and good location. The private parking is a huge bonus.The only issue for us was the bed is too hard. The jacuzzi tub is wonderful and helped with the stiff back.

My wife and I chose Lucky Savannah as a site for hotel stay in Savannah approximately 3 weeks ago. Everything with the site was excellent. Staff were helpful and the system was easy to manage. The Bird Baldwin House is a wonderful old property. It's beautiful and we loved the historical side of this. The location as being convenient to what we wanted to do for the historic Savannah was outstanding. The only concern we had, and it is a major one, was the noise level on Liberty Street. We did not realize how severe it would be in the wee hours of the morning. To be awakened every morning (at 5AM) by street sweepers, trucks, motorcycles with their radios blaring, etc was too much. Also, there are a few things on the property itself that need to be tidied up or upgraded. There were some things that looked very weathered and actually falling apart. And like other reviews, for our personal tastes, the bed was way too hard. We did not get a good night sleep for the three nights we were there. We will absolutely use Lucky Savannah again but we will probably try to find a property on a side street or at least, a less busy road.

My daughter and I stayed here for a girls weekend. We loved the location and were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go in Savannah. One of our first walks was to the grocery store for breakfast and lunch food. The kitchen worked out great for us too. I would definitely come back again.

We really liked the location of this residence. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted. The only negative things we have are that we were not aware it didn’t have a normal oven for cooking and the bed was very uncomfortable. We did not get a good nights sleep once while we were there.

Over all, it is quite lovely. Not the place for you, if you have bad hips, knees, legs. Alot of steps. Very comfortable. I did not have a good experience with the lock box...but they cam to help as quickly as they could.

Great property and location except for the fact that it is very near a freeway exit so lots of traffic and traffic noise. Our unit was on the top floor and there is no elevator so it was an interesting adventure getting luggage up and down the very narrow outside stairs. Otherwise, very clean and comfortable.

We stayed here for several days and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Our favorite part about this place is the location. We were able to walk most anywhere because it is close to most of the major tourist attractions in historic downtown Savannah; if we couldn't walk, we hired a pedicab, which was a lot of fun. The bed was comfortable and quite large, the tub was MASSIVE and very cozy, and the porch was just altogether pleasant. The only downside is climbing 3 flights of stairs--after walking all of downtown, the last thing one wants to do is climb so many steps. However, I'd say that is a minor obstacle in comparison to all of the great things this property has to offer.

Unit itself was nice. Bathroom is a little oversold in photos but mostly good. Other rooms were good. Outside was a little disappointing. Building in need of general maintenance and cleaning. Overall good. Nice bed, linens, towels.

Very clean and comfortable but has one major drawback and probably the reason it seems to be the last available to rent in the building....there is no laundry facilities. When staying for more than a couple of days it becomes necessary to do laundry and no one wants to spent vacation at a laundry mat, which by the way, is not easy to find in Savannah. The location is perfect and comes with parking which is a big deal in Savannah.

Historic District in Savannah is Beautiful. Very impressed with the cleanliness of the streets throughout. The Condo was centrally located in the Historic District within walking distance to most attractions.

This place was perfect for our honeymoon. Everything is lovely. The location is perfectly located to amazing places to eat and explore. And you can walk to all the beautiful gardens in Savannah. The only 1 issue is the noise. It's a busy area and when the city wakes up you hear everything. We were on the third floor and still could hear everything. We still loved our stay and will go back though just to be clear.

The location of this rental could not be better. My husband and I parked our car and never moved it until we left. The apartment was clean and spacious, and the king bed was comfortable. My husband and I will definitely be back.

Our overall experience was wonderful. Amanda and her staff very accommodating when I called with any questions. I needed to have a document mailed to office and once received it was promptly delivered to me. The hair dryer in the bathroom did not work, but there was a second one in the closet. I was told there was not a sofa bed - but there was; and the A/C vents should be directed not towards the sofa or the bed. Very convenient location and I would definitely recommend Lucky Savannah.
