Savannah Restaurant Week returns to the Hostess City for ten days starting on July 24 and continuing until August 2nd. 23 of Savannah’s top restaurants offer multi-course dinners for the tasty price of $30 per person. (Tax and gratuity not included). From artfully conceived menus of creatively crafted American food to Mediterranean inspired dining, Traditional Steaks and Chops, French Bistro fare or Seafood dishes showcasing multifaceted flavors, the possibilities are interesting and varied.

We asked some of the Lucky Staff to choose their favorite from this year’s list of participants, and here’s what they came back with:

Vic's on the River  | 26 E Bay Street | (912) 721-1000 | Open 11am-10pm

Completed in 1859, the building was originally a warehouse and later housed Steven’s Shipping Company. The ambiance is warm and elegant without being overdone, mixed with windows overlooking the Savannah River, Historic River Street and gorgeous sunsets behind the Talmadge Bridge.  The varied menu includes everything from comfort food (like the award winning Crawfish Beignets and Wild Georgia Shrimp and Cheddar Cheese Stone Ground Grits) to thoughtful main plates (Crispy Butterflied Pork Chops and Southern Meatloaf with Vic’s BBQ Sauce and Mashed Potatoes).  Great food, an extensive wine list, and attentive servers make this a favorite among locals and visitors.

Alligator Soul | 114 Barnard Street | (912) 232-7899 | 5:30 pm to 10ish

Commodious basement establishment near Telfair Square exposes the talents of cutting edge kitchen magician Stephen McLain who takes fresh, eclectic Southern dining to new heights. Offering a menu almost exclusively sourced from local lands, they offer everything from day boat fish to grass fed beef and more exotic fare such as Wild Bison, Frog Legs, Game Birds and Elk. And if you prefer a vegetarian approach, chef will prepare a unique entree just for you. Guests rave about the Oysters ala Soul (Fresh Oysters stuffed with Bacon, Crawfish, Mire Poix, Scallions, Roux and Hot sauce), The Hilbo-Spiced Grass- fed all natural Ribeye with Bourbon Peppercorn Cream Sauce, as well as the creatively crafted cocktails and house made desserts.

22 Square | 14 Barnard Street | (912) 233-2116 | 5-10pm (live music Friday nights)

This "farm to fork" restaurant inside the Andaz hotel has a spectacular seasonal menu featuring the best local meats and veggies available. No shortage of vegetarian options make this restaurant sure to please the whole family. The restaurant week menu includes a baked brie appetizer, a wide array of entrees including vegetables from the Forsyth Park Farmers Market, and too many delicious desserts to make your decision an easy one. Our party tried one of everything for dessert and we weren't disspointed. The bar manager here has also won numerous awards for her creative cocktails, so ask what pairs well with your meal for an extra special experience. The chef seems to have an inclination that her menu makes it difficult to decide from the many delicious choices, so they'll let you add an additional appetizer, entree, or dessert to your meal for a small fee.

These are just a few of our favorites, but you can't go wrong with any of the restaurants participating! Try something new and let us know how it was!
